#7 - Lucifer
This situation was most unfortunate. In fact, more unfortunate than he really wanted to admit to himself. The fact that Michael was here proved that. He smiled to himself. That had been most satisfying, throwing Michael like that. Especially after what he did to him in the holy war all that time ago. Michael was the only one who could stand against him in battle and he was the only one who could do the same to Lucifer himself. He sometimes thought that his former brother in arms was egotistical and that was probably a fair statement. He did the Lord’s work after all.
“My lord!” He turned around to see Belial. The one who had caused so much trouble. “You.” “Finish him off, m'lord!” Lucifer waved a hand and sent Belial crashing backwards to the ground. “You are a fool, Belial!” he spat out. “You have upset the natural order of things!” “Lucifer!” He turned around to see Michael back on his feet and looking rather displeased. "Whatever". “That was a mistake,” the archangel said while raising his sword. “The first mistake was coming here.” “I go where I please. That is the terms of the contract, a contract that you helped formulate, if I am not mistaken.” “The contract states that your kind will not physically kill or try to kill God’s subjects.” Lucifer grimaced. Michael was right and he knew who had sent him. God, the Lord of all. He was the one that Lucifer truly had to bow to, not Michael. The archangel was really just an errand boy for the King. “Belial had erred and he will face punishment,” Lucifer said, not taking his eyes off Michael.
“The human is still alive, I take it?” Michael nodded. “Yes.” “Then no lasting damage has been done here.” Michael said nothing. Lucifer smiled. The archangel was never a fan of the agreement that God had chosen for them. If Michael had his way, Lucifer and the demons that served him would’ve been destroyed. For that thinking, Lucifer had respect for Michael because in his position he would want to do the same.
“What are you going to do with your demon?” Michael asked. “That’s got nothing to do with you.” “Really?” Michael smiled, but Lucifer could tell he was from amused and didn’t like that Lucifer was trying to take control of the situation. “This abomination of yours comes up from his prison and breaks every rule there is, nearly kills an angel and tries to fight me in an attempt to kill a human for whatever reason he had and you want me just to hand him over to you?” How he hated Michael and his arrogance, his self-righteousness. Every fibre of his being wanted to throw him into the nearest tree, but that wouldn’t help matters. Much damage had been done here tonight and he was in the wrong. God wouldn’t tolerate much more, this he knew. He had to remain diplomatic as the humans liked to say. “Let it go, Michael,” he said. “You know me and you know that the punishment for Belial will be severe.” “Unless you orchestrated this whole situation.” Michael’s white eyes narrowed. “Did you send this demon to do your bidding?” “You’re accusing me of something?” Lucifer said, or rather asked. “If you are, just say it because I do not have the patience for your games.”
